...that was July

So my blog has been pretty neglected lately, but there's been so much happening, I haven't had a moment to spare to blog about it!

Three new demos are coming very, very soon. Guitars and bass have already been recorded and I'm due to record my vocals next month. So keep an eye-open for that.

Also, very exciting news about "The Underground" is just around the corner. It's been three years since I finished writing the book - and it's been a long time coming - but it will be on the shelves earlier than you think.

Until next time!

Writing & Editing + Music

I am very excited to announce that after ten long years, I am just months away from completing my goal - publishing a book. Illustrations for my debut children's picture book "Snoozy Sam" are almost finished, and I am in the final stages of editing the manuscript for my adult thriller novel "The Underground."

Everything is happening at once!

To top it off, I've been writing draft chapters for the 3rd Jordan Kennedy book "Cigarette Burns", and it is turning out to be some of my best work yet (and I know every author says that, but I actually do mean it! haha)

But what about my music project, Graffiti Dragons? I'm finished two out of three new demos, and I'll be recording them very, very soon. Oh, and I'm in the process of making a website. So watch out for that! ;)

Until next time!

Recording again!

This weekend I've been doing a bit of recording, and today I've been working on some new stuff. One track is a much darker/heavier song that I've been trying to put together for the past three years...and at last, I'm making progress! I'm also doing an acoustic cover song of one of my favourite songs ever. And what song will it be? You're going to have to watch this space.

Ok, so it doesn't look like much, but it's enough for now!

Business As Usual

So! Feb has already rolled around and one month of the year has already flown by.

Things have been so hectic that my blog has become pretty damn neglected. In between writing the 3rd book in my Jordan Kennedy series, I've been working on new music with a great guitarist, as well as working on my own demos. The music I'm putting together for Graffiti Dragons is sounding amazing. Each track is turning out to be very different from the last and I'm itching to get out and start doing gigs again. I hope by mid-year I'll be doing some open mic nights!

But in the meantime...

...keep smilin'.

Demos: Graffiti Dragons

And my demos are up!
You can listen to my songs under "Graffiti Dragons" at the top right of the page. Truth is, I tried to embed the widget into this post, but I failed. I couldn't get it to work. Sometimes me and technology don't get along.

But anyway!! Have a listen to the demos and enjoy the music!

Here's where you can find my reverbnation page;

You can find Graffiti Dragons on Facebook too! So, go ahead and "like" me. :)

Am I excited? Hell yes!

Trust I'll be posting them here the second they're finished.

Recording Demos

Yesterday was a great day. Finally, my new band project is coming together. I was gutted when DNF had to disband and I really wanted to carry on, but now I can see that maybe some good has come of all this. I loved playing in DNF, but I kept a lot of my song ideas to myself because I thought that it wouldn't fit with what the band was all about. So, now I've finally had the chance to work on my own songs. I had lyrics, melodies and a few chords here and there, so with the help of a few friends the songs have finally come together.

Yesterday I went up to the Blue Mountains to record two demo tracks from my upcoming band project - Graffiti Dragons. The two tracks I recorded are exactly the kind of music that I wanted to make. The first track, "Resurrected" is a rock song all about being in a bad place in your life, and then learning how to move forward. The second song "Waiting" is a lot softer and more mellow, and this song has been in the making for six years. When my Nan passed away in 2005, I wrote a song about how I felt. No music, just lyrics. And this year, with the passing of my childhood dog, I rewrote the lyrics and had some help putting the chords together. The song is all about coping with the loss of a loved one - which is something we can all relate to.

Also, in my previous band I played bass, but this time I'll be singing. I've never sung in a band before (apart from a few back-up vocals here and there) but I've been having lessons and they truly have paid off. So, yesterday we tracked vox, bass and guitars. A friend of mine is currently mixing the tracks, and I can't wait to upload them and let everyone have a listen to my music.

New Band Project

A few weeks back I posted something titled "Graffiti Dragons", and today I'm going to explain what it's all about.

Since DNF disbanded, I've been working on my own songs. I've been having singing lessons and guitar lessons, so for the time being I've stepped away from the bass. I'm now getting to the stage where I have a strong setlist of ten songs, and I'm in the process of recording demos. I can't wait to start looking for band members and rehearsing these songs. At this stage, I'm hoping to be doing gigs again early 2012, so here's hoping these plans go ahead!
